Over the last 22 years, Niche Nanny's founder has touched the lives of hundreds of families and caregivers creating a strong history, solid foundation, and name you can trust.

 

Whitney Smith, the founder, started her career as an Infant Specialist in 2000. After completing her associates with a focus on childcaring and her elementary education credentials, she started her own home childcare business, to help support raising her two oldest children. Upon completing her bachelor’s degree, and relocating to Phoenix, Arizona, she worked as an Assessor for the state's Early Childhood Quality Rating Improvement Scale division. While working for the state, Whitney assessed the quality of childcare environments in a wide variety of programs. After completing the initial phase of the state’s pilot program, Whitney discovered that early childcare leaders struggled to understand building and establishing quality childcare programming and environments for children. So, Whitney founded an early childhood education consulting business and began teaching childcare owners and leaders how to improve their programs. The success that these leaders began to experience after working with Whitney, was that their state-published star rating typically increased from a 1-star to 4-stars  after just one renewal period.

 

During this time, Whitney also partnered with a Christian-based preschool and revamped their entire Infant and Toddler department programming and environments. This preschool expanded the number of classrooms available, based on her design, and is now the largest enrolled Infant and Toddler program in the Phoenix, AZ area and they are the favorite of Arizona State University employees by demand.

 

Upon having her third child, Whitney gravitated back to the Alabama area and found her place at Auburn University. While employed with Auburn University, Whitney worked with Family Child Care Partnerships and Auburn Early Head Start. Her purpose during this time was to help home childcare owners become Nationally Accredited and implement the Early Head Start education standards into their family childcare programs, expanding the availability of quality educational programming for young children across the state.

 

After 22 years of learning, working with a variety of childcare programs, and partnering with hundreds of families along the way, Whitney believes she has found yet another niche in the ever-progressing spectrum of providing quality childcare to our children. As 2020 ended, 2021 moved ahead, and we all experienced the shift towards the “new normal” for safety, family, childcare, and education, Whitney took this time to develop a new opportunity for partnering with families through creating Niche Nanny. Niche Nanny offers a unique way to find caregiving solutions in a way that honors each family’s personal decision for care.
